MIKE D'AMELIO

Michael D'Amelio has embraced art as an essential part of his life since childhood, recognizing its power as a medium for storytelling. By drawing from personal experiences, both challenging and inspiring, he directly engages his audience, inviting them into his intricate world and encouraging their own interpretations.

While pursuing a Fine Arts degree at SUNY Purchase College on scholarship, D'Amelio felt a strong affinity for abstract expressionism and neo-dadaism. Rejecting limitations imposed by any specific medium or movement, he fearlessly experimented with painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, design, and collage to discover his artistic voice. His work received recognition in various student showcases, and he graduated among the top of his class. Post-college,

D'Amelio continued his artistic exploration while establishing a successful career in Design. Additionally, his involvement as a Board of Directors member for The Ray Light Foundation, which grants art scholarships to at-risk youths, exposed him to the poignant stories behind their artistic endeavors, inspiring a more psychological approach to his creative process and muses.

However, it was the birth of his daughter in 2016 that truly unleashed a newfound voice in D'Amelio's art. Fascinated by the innocence and uninhibited freedom his daughter displayed on a canvas, he discovered new realms of creative expression within himself. Presently, D'Amelio consistently produces his most remarkable work.

Employing mixed media techniques, his work exudes an untamed energy, blurring the boundaries between good and evil while evoking a peculiar sense of sanctuary. Their allure is such that you simply cannot avert your gaze.
